In one of the nearby grates is the grub that goes to the health station. Find another Resin sitting on a ledge across the room. Another headcrab will jump out, shoot it, and take the pistol clip sitting on the cardboard box behind it. Open the crate with the latch to get at the loot inside, then take another right to find a weapon upgrading station and a health station. Turn right on your first turn, and you’ll see a ladder and a yellow crate. One of the three openings contains a headcrab guarding a Resin, another one contains barnacles, and the third will take you back onto the critical path.Ĭontinue killing zombies and headcrabs until you find yourself in an open hallway with several side-rooms and corridors. Once you’ve killed everything that stands in your way, explore the openings where walls previously stood. Of course, the other zombies will crash through the walls anyway it’s much harder to kill each of them if you only have your pistol. If the dead zombie with the shotgun falls too far into the hole in the floor, you won’t be able to grab the shotgun, and you’ll have to reel the zombie back in, making this a tightrope act. The tricky part is that headcrab zombies will barrel down on you from all sides, crashing through the walls before you can get the shotgun if you take your sweet time. What you want to do here is get the rotary in the position you want it, then re-insert the white bar to lock the zombie in place once again so you can grab the shotgun. After you pull it out, the zombie will begin to descend. You have to jump down to the rotary that’s keeping the zombie strung up in the air, and you have to pull out a white bar that’s got the rotary locked in place.
Before you leap off the stairwell, pick up the two pistol ammo clips hidden to your left and right. Back on the main path, travel up a staircase and find a hanging zombie corpse with a shotgun. Detour off of the bridge to the right, then go underneath it to find a Resin. Use the battery to open the door, then travel into the next area. Shoot the lock on the nearby door, kill the armored headcrabs inside of the fenced enclosure, and pick up a battery laying on the ground next to the hazmat suit corpse. On the far side of the room, pick up two pistol clips on the operating tables. In the next room, you’ll see a whole bunch of armored headcrabs fenced in with a dead Combine in a hazmat suit. Open the latch with either hand and pick up one pistol clip. Move through the hallway and stop at the first yellow crate you see on your right.
Some fans already miss familiar structure and method of play the series has stuck to in the prior iterations, and are wary of the pricy barrier to entry that accompanies virtual reality. You'll begin the mission in a hallway filled with sewer pipes. However, the fact that this is exclusively a VR game presents some complications. What’s particularly exciting here is how the game looks to incorporate its trademark mixture of puzzle-solving, exploration, combat, and cinematic storytelling that it pioneered in the early days of the series. There are very few games being developed “from the ground up” for virtual reality, and the idea of an entire fully fledged experience with a massive budget is something that fans have yet to see. With that said, Half-Life: Alyx certainly looks intriguing at first-glance. Valve teased the game earlier this week to mixed reactions from fans, who have been waiting with bated breath for a proper sequel to Half-Life 2: Episode 2 since its 2007 release. Yes, I know, that’s a lot of plot to take in. Half Life: Alyx will take place in between the events of the first and the second game-years after the scientist (and series main character) Gordon Freeman inadvertently opens a hole to a different dimension, allowing aliens to invade the planet, but also some time before he reappears to help topple the totalitarian government formed by harvesting the powers and technology of the aforementioned aliens. This game also will only be playable in VR, which is a break from the traditional structure of the series. Instead, it’s a departure from the previous games and allows you to play as series mainstay, Alyx Vance. Before you get too excited-no, this is not Half-Life 3. Video game fans, it might be time to rejoice: Half-Life: Alyx, the newest game in the Half-Life series, was announced today by Valve.
